Curated Learning Resources for Autodidact Families
Welcome to our Curated Learning Resources page! Here, you will find a diverse and carefully selected range of topics and subtopics that I personally create and use in supporting and guiding my own children’s homeschooling and self-directed learning efforts. Each resource reflects our eclectic and Socratic approach to education, where learning begins with engaging conversations and evolves through personal exploration.
Our method starts with a Socratic dialogue to spark interest and relate the topic directly to real-world experiences, making learning immediately relevant and deeply engaging. Rather than offering opinions, I pose thought-provoking questions that encourage critical thinking and exploration. This approach is designed to ignite curiosity and lay the groundwork for independent learning.
Each learning journey culminates in an activity—be it a book report, an essay, a presentation, or a poem—where my children take the lead in exploring the topic further on their own. This independent work is crucial as it allows them to develop their thoughts, arguments, and creative expressions without immediate guidance.
After their exploration, we reconvene for a reflective conversation to discuss their findings and insights, helping to solidify their understanding and draw meaningful conclusions together.
This page is a gateway to these resources, each developed with the aim of fostering autonomy, mastery, and purpose in learning. Dive into our resources, and let’s embark on this journey of discovery and growth together.
